The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu is now accepting online applications from Nepali students studying within Nepal for the Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship Scheme (MGSS) and Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme (GJSS) for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Application Process:
Applications can be submitted through the official portal at www.goischolarship.com.np starting from Kartik 9 to Mangsir 4, 2081 (October 25 to November 19, 2024). The portal will close promptly on Mangsir 5, 2081, at 12:00 AM (November 20, 2024, at 00:00 hrs). All applications must be completed by Mangsir 4, 2081, 11:59 PM (November 19, 2024, at 23:59 hrs).
A. Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship Scheme (MGSS) 2024-25 (For Class 11 Students)
1. Eligibility Criteria:
- Open to regular, non-diploma Class 11 students studying in any recognized educational institution in Nepal.
- Applicants must upload a certificate, verified by the institution head, confirming their enrollment in Class 11 and stating that they do not receive any other scholarship.
- A minimum of 60% aggregate marks in Class 10 is required, and the Class 10 mark sheet must be uploaded.
2. Scholarship Amount and Duration:
- Selected students will receive NPR 24,000 per year for two years (Class 11 and Class 12).
- To continue the scholarship for Class 12, students must submit:
- A copy of the Class 11 mark sheet.
- A certificate from the institution head verifying the Class 11 grade percentage and confirming enrollment in Class 12.
B. Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme (GJSS) 2024-25 (For Bachelor’s Degree Courses)
1. Eligibility Criteria:
- Open to first-year, non-diploma bachelor’s degree students enrolled in any recognized educational institution in Nepal.
- Applicants must submit a verified certificate from the institution head stating their enrollment in the first year of their bachelor’s degree and confirming they are not receiving any other scholarship.
- A minimum of 70% aggregate marks in Class 12 (excluding Class 11 marks) is required, and the Class 12 mark sheet must be uploaded.
- Age Limit: Applicants must be between 17 and 22 years old as of 17th Asar 2082.
2. Scholarship Amount and Duration:
Selected candidates will receive the following scholarships:

To continue receiving the scholarship each year, recipients must submit:
- A copy of the mark sheet for each year.
- A certificate from the institution head verifying the percentage achieved in the previous year (aggregate percentage for semester systems) and confirming their continued enrollment in the following year or semester.
Additional Requirements and Conditions:
- Citizenship: Applicants must be Nepali citizens and submit copies of their citizenship certificates as well as their guardians’.
- Income and Disability Certificates: The annual family income should not exceed NPR 200,000, verified by a recent income certificate issued by a government authority in Nepal. Applicants with disabilities should submit a valid certificate from a local or district government authority.
Submission of Required Documents:
Scholarship recipients must email the necessary documents to attacheedu.kathmandu@mea.gov.in by Poush 16 each year. The scholarship amount will be deposited into the recipient’s bank account once the documents are verified. If documents are not submitted within the specified timeframe, the scholarship will be canceled.
Important Points to Note:
- Applicants currently receiving scholarships from other sources are not eligible for these scholarships.
- Ensure the online application includes accurate information such as name, address, email, contact details, and marks. Applicants should upload clear, legible documents and a recent passport-sized photo to avoid rejection.
- All communications regarding document verification, candidate selection, bank account opening instructions, and reminders will be conducted via registered email. Applicants are advised to safeguard their email login credentials.
- Edits to applications are not possible after submission, so applicants should review instructions thoroughly before completing the form. An acknowledgment receipt must be obtained upon successful submission.
- Documents submitted after the deadline will not be accepted, whether via email or post.

Applications submitted through consultants or intermediaries will not be recognized. The Indian Embassy only accepts applications directly from students. Applicants should beware of unauthorized entities, as applications submitted through such means will be rejected.
